The festival opens with a dual concert. In the first part, the Italian “fenomeno” Aniello Desiderio -who began his career in the 1980s at our own festival at the age of just 15—performs together with his brother, violin virtuoso Gennaro Desiderio. In the second part of the concert, Italian musicians Cesare Chiacchiaretta (bandoneon) and Giampaolo Bandini (guitar) take the stage, renowned worldwide for their interpretations of the music of the great Astor Piazzolla. The concert is held with the support of the Istituto Italiano di Cultura of the Italian Embassy in Athens.

The second day features two separate solo recitals. First comes a recital by the composer and guitarist Michalis Sourvinos, well known to Greek audiences, followed by the recital of the very young and distinguished soloist and professor at the Zurich University of the Arts, Vojin Kocić.

The third day brings another dual concert. The extraordinary and unique Grisha Goryachev, following last year’s sold-out performance, returns to interpret the flamenco guitar music of the unforgettable Paco de Lucía. In the second part, the legendary Rosenberg Trio (Stochelo & Mozes Rosenberg, Matheus Nikolaiewsky) presents the art of gypsy jazz with a special tribute to the music of Charlie Chaplin.

The festival closes with two concerts.
The afternoon triple concert brings to the festival stage the promising and internationally award-winning young guitar virtuosos: Nino D’Amico (Italy), Pavle Filipovic (Serbia), and our own Filippos Manoloudis.

The evening concert is dedicated to the music of the unique Joaquín Rodrigo, featuring well-known themes from his concertos for guitar and orchestra:
Concierto de Aranjuez (performed by Ricardo Gallén)
Fantasía para un Gentilhombre (performed by Marco Tamayo),
Concierto Madrigal (performed by Duo Melis—Suzana Prieto and Alexis Mouzourakis—, the Duo Grisha Goryachev & Marco Tamayo, and the Duo Thanos Mitsalas & Michalis Kontaxakis).
This is an artistic event which, in this particular structure and lineup, is presented for the first time in the history of the international guitar scene. With great pleasure, we welcome to the concert the outstanding Greek youth ensemble, the Underground Youth Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Kostas Iliadis. The event will be introduced by the well-known figure in the music world, Giorgos Monemvasitis.
